Apple has released iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1 updates to address two critical security vulnerabilities. These updates are essential to safeguard users’ data and privacy.
The first vulnerability affected the Passwords app, Apple’s native password manager. A logic issue could have potentially allowed VoiceOver to read aloud a user’s saved passwords. This vulnerability impacted several iPhone and iPad models, including the iPhone XS and later, iPad Pro 3rd generation and later, iPad Air 3rd generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later.
The second vulnerability primarily impacted the newly launched iPhone 16 series. It allowed the device to capture audio messages in the iMessage app for a few seconds before the microphone indicator appeared. This issue has been resolved with improved checks.
It’s highly recommended to update your iPhone or iPad to the latest iOS or iPadOS version as soon as possible. To download the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update and check for the update.
